Cool day. Good visibility, not much wind.
Col Bovill arrived on a visit of 3 days.
Col Wise and Bovill Junr came to lunch. Col Festing (RFC HQ) also came to lunch.
In the middle of lunch all our balloons were attacked by Hostile aeroplanes from South to North. 4 machines conducted attack. No 9 was missed, No 32 was burnt. 25 missed. No 2 burnt, No 38 burnt and No 15 missed. The hostile aeroplanes were unimpeded by our machines or anti aircraft.
Only 60 tubes in the Wing 16 lorries sent to No 1 AD and 480 full tubes brought back. The lorries left at 7pm and returned at 4.30am.
