23rd September 1917

Bad view in morning, improved in afternoon. All balloons up.

No 47’s balloon BMS 146 was attacked by E A at 7pm but was not hit. The Colonel and Pearson made successful parachute descents.

Pearson, Whitehead and Blot dined here.

Visited 13 and 18 Sections also 47 and 17th Coy HQ.

Went to dump at Dickiebusch with Silverstone.

 

24th September 1917

Very fine hot day. All balloons up in afternoon.

Went to IXth Corps and obtained allotment of Nissen Hut for Wing HQ men’s quarters.

Visited No 32 Sectn and inspected their balloon BMS 144 which was leaking at diagonal seams.

Called at 17th Coy and arranged for No 13 and 36 Sections to put on light cables. Went to 7th Coy and borrowed Nicholson drum for winding off cable.

Visited 5th Coy and went to Messines with Meyler and fixed 2 new light positions.
