21st Jany 1917
Visited 23 Sectn, Examined their portable machine-gun stand. Gave instruction to Sergt Maylott to complete 2nd one at earliest moment. Inspected new balloon bed.
Inspected transport and visited stores. Beard on leave. 2nd A M Bailey killed whilst delivering Brigade Despatches.
22nd Jany 1917
Engaged all day on Court of Enquiry to investigate Bailey’s death (2nd AM No 27465) He was motor cycling to Brigade with II Balloon Wing despatches and collided with drunken man.
23 Jany 1917
Col and I attended Baileys funeral at Bailleul Military Cemetery at 10am. Visited No 2 Sectn. No 9’s new winch (P77) tried and would not haul down.
24 Jany 1917
Lt Dixon and Sergt Palmer came here in morning and went to No 9 with me. Examined and tested new Winch P77. Timing shaft broke before balloon put of winch and it could not be tested.
25 Jany 1917
Went to Cassell in afternoon and bought ticking for Artillery War Game. 9frs 10c. P77 returned to No 1 AP.
